I'm poor, and I have been for my entire life. I also have never owned a car, rarely buy anything new, do not own a cellphone, and do my best to avoid using plastic or throwing thingsi in the trash. I know lots of poor people who live like I do. It's a whole lifestyle, and one that I think others would benefit greatly from adopting. I cohabitate with a bunch of other people like me in a pretty nice old house, and grow a garden in back. Either way, my point remains: Those corporations that do all the polluting are doing it in order to sell things to us. We can change that by not buying what they're selling, and by taking better care of things where we live.
