Brief Explanation of the Roger Waters Nazi Thing
Real quick while I wait for my bacon to cook
This is from a song called “In the Flesh” from a Pink Floyd album called The Wall, which was adapted into a movie called The Wall and a series of tours also called The Wall. It’s all very famous and successful. The story is about a rock star who goes crazy. His father died fighting the Nazis in World War 2, which is also what happened to Waters’ dad by the way. He gets crazier as the movie goes on, eventually experiencing a drug-induced meltdown. He is then revived by his managers and driven to his big show that night. He gets on stage as this evil Fascist character and leads a violent rally among his fans and security in which people are beaten, the whole concert descending into a disastrous riot. That’s the part Roger Waters is doing in that clip. After that in the movie, the rock star totally disassociates and we’re treated to an awesome animated sequence that shows a sort of symbolist Fascist takeover of his mind, scenes of his militaristic fans conducting a Fascist takeover of England, and a subsequent trial in which he’s broken down by all the abusive authority figures of his life.
